Bella Italia

I love to travel, I love to spend time with good friends, and I'm a cheapskate.  For this reason, I chose to take a 2-week vacation in Europe.  This week I spent with CPT Bailey Brown, my good JAG friend (who used to work for me as an enlisted soldier -- sorry, Bailey, I couldn't resist) and hiis lovely wife Angelia.  Bailey and Angie live in Vicenza and took me to several wonderful locations in Italy.

After viewing this page, why not hop over to another page and see the Bavarian part of this trip?

Outside the city walls

The road to Vo
We started out on a drive to Vo to get to a wine garden, and we never did find the damn place.  We did see some interesting sights on the way to and fro, though.

Beware of the dog.

La Cinque Terre (The Five Cities)
La Cinque Terre is made up of five cities on the Italian Riviera.  We saw three of these beautiful cities, and we also took the time to swim the crystal Mediterranean waters.  Che bella!

La Spezia, the gateway to Le Cinque Terre
Not much to see in Monterosso; pretty touristy.

Vernazza was a little better.

On the path to Corniglia . . .
. . . we saw prickly pear cacti . . .
. . . and an agave, lust like the ones in Arizona
. . . but Corniglia was definitely my favorite of the three

Milano (Milan)
I had a 7:30 train from Milano, so we drove all night from Vicenza to get there and arrived around 3:30 AM.  I shot these while wandering aroiund the square waiting for the sun to come up.
